Aims to create awareness among citizens about buying and consuming only BBMP-certified meat
The public notice, issued by Commissioner N. Manjunath Prasad, reiterates that illegal and unauthorized slaughter of animals and sacrifice of animals in public places are strictly prohibited and are a criminal offence. Slaughtering is allowed only in BBMP’s slaughter houses.
A team of BBMP’s veterinary doctors ensure that only healthy, physiologically normal animals are slaughtered for human consumption and that meat from animals is free from disease, wholesome and of no risk to human health. Only after the approval and a certificate, the meat can be sold or consumed. There will be stamps of edible ink on meat that is fit to consume.
